I had my laptop sent in for an upgrade + a reinstall of winXP.
When it came back today i discovered there was no sound whatsoever (discovered this when i tried to open volume control from the entertainment sub-menu) the message given was no active mixer devices available. I then found out that i had no audio drivers installed and that there were no sound configuration-type things in the device manager.
Ran everest program and this was the info on the sound:

Under Windows Audio: complete blank
PCI/PnP Audio: Device Description Type
Realtek ALC660 @ ATI SB600 - High Definition Audio Controller PCI

I downloaded somezipped stuff from the Asus website, namely the Universal Audio architect bus UAA XP 061205 (I think that's what it said) and the Audio XP 061221..not too sure what I'm supposed to do with these or where the proper places to install / allocate them would be. the download page said not to install the audio xp without installing the UAA first. Anyone with a clue on what I should be doing ? Before this laptop (Asus F5R) went in for service, it ran RealTek. I just don't know where to install the stuff i downloaded from the realtek site as well as the asus site. any advice would be appreciated.]]>
